End Gun Violence

We strive to end gun violence.

We provide crisis intervention to help those affected by gun violence in processing the trauma and discourage revenge shooting.

Outreach workers help at-risk populations.

Trained Violence Interrupters steer violent behavior away from the familiar cycle of violence. They establish a diaglogue, teaching the repercussions of all behavior; they offer alternative thinking.

Carbondale United is dedicated to addressing violence in our community. We work to unite area organizations who will assist us in engaging our youth in positive activities that develop healthy minds. It is our hope that in unity we are able to keep alive the national movement, highlighting the tragic murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Aubry, and Tyre Nichols and work to end gun violence. We want to help guide our community to understanding we need racial justice.

We employ methods to include "Violence Interrupters" - a new type of health care workers who help identify potential areas of conflict. They monitor situations to mediate and then monitor to help prevent reignition of violent repercussions or retaliative behavior.

Violence Interrupters are crisis intervention specialists that help gun violence victims and family members process the trauma they've experienced. Beginning at the hospital or other community spaces where violence has occurred, the Violence Interrupters work closely with the victims and perpetrators to learn how to discourage violent behavior.
